Sunday marked our third appearance at Soundset, the hip-hop festival of the year. The show has always been a humbling experience for Check Your Six to be involved in, giving us a chance to shake hands with our supporters, and show our local followers that the brand is run by people just like them. Young, enthusiastic, positive, and outgoing. It sounds cliché…but it’s true. There were a lot of faces who stopped by to show their support, many of them buying their fifth or sixth shirt, and every single interaction felt like I was talking shop with a childhood friend. As I said earlier…humbling.
Since starting Check Your Six three years ago, I’ve had the opportunity to interact with hundreds of supporters. It has become increasingly clear that our followers are very much like us. The small difference is that we run a clothing company. They paint, skateboard, snowboard, rap, deejay, sell cars, go to school, defend our country, and a million other things. Combine what we do here at Check Your Six with what our followers do with just as much passion and dedication, and you have yourself the youth future of this great country. And you thought this post would be full of bad spelling and nonsensical ramblings!
I apologize in advance for the lack of photos covering the daily events…the camera spent most of the day on my back as I dug through boxes and shook hands. But without further ado, I present to you…Soundset 2011 – Through the lens of Check Your Six.

You remember this pretty face…

I thought that people would be stoked to get free playing cards…I guess I was wrong…All day: “Why are you guys handing out playing cards? Wait..I don’t get it? Why playing cards? Are these stickers?” Sorry folks…I’ll try to tone down the confusion next year!

One of the few performances I was able to go catch, Soulcrate Music.

And last but not least….Mally. Well….I’ll have much more on this man very soon. I promise.
