It’s been a few days since I promised this post…but an Irishman always never breaks his promises..so here it is! Our good friend Malik, AKA MaLLy, hit the stage at Soundset over Memorial Day weekend and absolutely killed it. MaLLy was in our Spring photoshoot, we’ve been out on the town, but for one reason or another I’ve never made my way to see him perform live. The performance was raw, the crowd matched his intensity from the opening line of the first song to the last breath of the finale. I think I saw a glimpse of the future of Minneapolis hip-hop….
Our good friends from across the Atlantic, FRONT (you remember them), featured our Bourbon tee in a new feature entitled ’121 Tees of Summer’. Thanks again mates!
Check out the new Mac Lethal video, Raise the Dead, released just last week. Mac is rocking our Special Blend tee from our Fall 2011 release, which is cool because…well…because he’s Mac Lethal. But it’s more cool because I’ve been listening to Mac Lethal since high school. I remember playing Mac Lethal on blast while working at Zumiez (I know, I know) back in the day. Until we got some complaints that the music being played was too explicit. I didn’t see the big deal. I still don’t.
Sunday marked our third appearance at Soundset, the hip-hop festival of the year. The show has always been a humbling experience for Check Your Six to be involved in, giving us a chance to shake hands with our supporters, and show our local followers that the brand is run by people just like them. Young, enthusiastic, positive, and outgoing. It sounds cliché…but it’s true. There were a lot of faces who stopped by to show their support, many of them buying their fifth or sixth shirt, and every single interaction felt like I was talking shop with a childhood friend. As I said earlier…humbling.
